Classical decoration can be applied to modern materials and their modern character can be expressed. Stainless steel has been used to create a stiff leaf and lattice decoration, this is an allusion to the legend of the classical Corinthian capital, said to be derived from an acanthus growing from beneath a basket. The engineered construction of the capital is expressed by the use of exposed bolt heads.
