A new boundary to the village of Trowse, just outside Norwich, was created by the construction of a new bypass. The village was expanded to provide a new green focussed on the existing pub, which had been cut off from its location of an old through-route, and extended to create a series of small new districts. The architecture was controlled with codes to ensure that the distinctive Norfolk characteristics and materials were retained, as well as continuing some of the special features of the village.
